Overview

The Football Imperialism Map is an interactive, community-driven visualization tool that tracks territorial control based on football (soccer) match results. Inspired by “imperialism” maps used in college sports, this concept assigns geographic regions to teams, and land changes hands when a team loses a match. The map evolves throughout the season, offering a unique, visual way to follow dominance, rivalries, and title races.

To create a football imperialism map on paper, you can use a combination of digital templates designed for easy printing and manual tracking methods. These maps typically begin with 32 regions (for NFL) or 130+ (for CFB), where each team controls the territory nearest to their stadium.  1. Get an Editable/Printable Map Template
