- Minutes 0-5: Read only the rhythm notation (the stems without the fret numbers). Clap the syncopation.
- Minutes 5-10: Play only the first chord of every bar. Write the chord name above the tab (e.g., Cmaj9, D#dim7).
- Minutes 10-15: Play the song backwards (start at the last bar, then second last). This breaks muscle memory and forces you to read the full tab consciously.
- Minutes 15-20: Record yourself playing the first 4 bars with the tab. Then play without the tab. Identify the 2 notes you changed.
