Neato D8 firmware guide

Overview

• The Neato D8 is a robot vacuum using Neato Robotics firmware; firmware updates fix bugs and add features.
• Proceed carefully: incorrect firmware flashing can brick the device and may void warranty.

The chair leg wasn't a coordinate. It was wooden, cylindrical, anchored. The cables weren't obstacles. They were serpentine, conductive, dangerous.

1. Open the Neato app (iOS or Android).
2. Select your Neato D8 from the dashboard.
3. Tap the settings gear (usually top right).
4. Scroll down to "Robot Information" or "Firmware Version".

Prerequisites

• Neato D8 on its charging base (battery > 50%).
• Strong 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (Neato D8 does not support 5 GHz bands).
• Neato app logged into your account.
• Robot not currently cleaning or error state.

• Navigation algorithms: How the LIDAR (laser) maps your room.
• Battery management: Charging speed, discharge protection, and run time.
• Motor control: Brush speed, suction power, and wheel torque.
• Sensor calibration: Cliff sensors, wall following, and dirt detection.
• Wi-Fi & Connectivity: How the robot talks to your router and the Neato app.
