Neato D8 firmware guide
Overview
- The Neato D8 is a robot vacuum using Neato Robotics firmware; firmware updates fix bugs and add features.
- Proceed carefully: incorrect firmware flashing can brick the device and may void warranty.
The chair leg wasn't a coordinate. It was wooden, cylindrical, anchored. The cables weren't obstacles. They were serpentine, conductive, dangerous.
- Open the Neato app (iOS or Android).
- Select your Neato D8 from the dashboard.
- Tap the settings gear (usually top right).
- Scroll down to "Robot Information" or "Firmware Version".
Prerequisites
- Neato D8 on its charging base (battery > 50%).
- Strong 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (Neato D8 does not support 5 GHz bands).
- Neato app logged into your account.
- Robot not currently cleaning or error state.
- Navigation algorithms: How the LIDAR (laser) maps your room.
- Battery management: Charging speed, discharge protection, and run time.
- Motor control: Brush speed, suction power, and wheel torque.
- Sensor calibration: Cliff sensors, wall following, and dirt detection.
- Wi-Fi & Connectivity: How the robot talks to your router and the Neato app.
