1. Individual (Single-User) License

• Best for: Graduate students, individual professors, or solo researchers.
• How it works: The license is tied to one named user and one computer. However, Stata allows you to install it on up to 3 computers (e.g., office desktop, home laptop, travel device) as long as only one is in use at a time.
• Activation Key: You will receive a serial number and an activation code via email. You enter these during installation.
• Cost (Approx): Stata/IC ~$298 (annual) or $995 (perpetual, academic); Stata/BE ~$198 (annual).

Types of Stata Licenses

• Online Activation: If the computer has internet, you enter the Authorization Key. Stata connects to StataCorp servers, verifies the key, and unlocks the software.
• Offline Activation: If the computer is behind a firewall or has no internet, you can use the "Offline Activation" feature. This generates a request code. You must email this code to StataCorp (or input it into the StataCorp website on a different device) to receive a manual activation key to type into the installer.
