The Story

Alex had been using his Oppo A16 for a while, and while it served him well, he felt limited by the pre-installed software and the lack of control over his device. He wanted to install a custom ROM to breathe new life into his phone and get rid of bloatware. However, he soon realized that to install any custom software, he first needed to unlock the bootloader of his Oppo A16.

Quick checklist (before you start)

  • Backup complete.
  • ADB & fastboot installed and working.
  • Device drivers installed.
  • Developer options enabled and OEM unlocking visible.
  • Unlock token or official permission obtained if required.
  • Battery charged.

Q: Will this work on the Oppo A16k or Oppo A16e? A: No. The A16k and A16e have different security chips and locked mediatek bootloaders. This guide is strictly for CPH2269 (Oppo A16). Backup complete
